The plot of the military Drama "Rescue Dawn", filmed in explanation of real events, tells about the fate of pilot Dieter Denglera, about the inner struggle with himself, about hope, an unbending will and fortitude of this man. An American of German origin Dieter always dreamed of becoming a pilot. His dream has come true, he became a United States NAVY pilot and participated in the Vietnam War.
He performed regular flights with an important mission — dumped bombs on innocent people of anything, but once his plane was shot down and captured by Dieter. Once in captivity unbearable conditions Dengleru have to survive at any cost, as well as many reflect on the absurdity of what's happening. But realizing the hopelessness of the situation and not wanting to wait for salvation, which may or may not happen, Dieter devises a plan of escape.
